El Tesoro tequila isn’t just a spirit, it’s a legacy. Crafted using time-honoured methods passed down by founder Don Felipe Camarena for over 80 years, every bottle is a testament to tradition, craftsmanship and cultural pride.

In a category increasingly driven by flashy branding and mass production El Tesoro wanted to tell a deeper story: one that celebrated the human hands, heritage and artistry behind the product. The creative platform “The Artisan’s Champion” was developed to reflect this ethos and I was brought in to bring it to life through a full brand world visual identity.

The goal: build emotional resonance with consumers who value authenticity, quality and connection - positioning El Tesoro not just as a premium tequila but as a true craft icon.

Process

Building on the creative platform, I developed a premium visual identity that works across global touchpoints, from campaigns to in-person events.

Key elements included:

  • A refined colour palette with soft pastels and gold accents
  • Typography styling and and icons inspired by traditional craftsmanship
  • A collaboration with a Mexican printmaker to create hand-cut lino prints showing the production process
  • Artisanal materials like linen, leather and textured paper for added sensory appeal
  • Collaborating with photographers and stylists to art direct a product photoshoot to capture vibrant, handcrafted cocktail imagery for digital and social use

Result

A cohesive, elegant brand world that elevates El Tesoro’s heritage and craft. The identity could span digital, print, retail and events, helping the brand stand out in the premium tequila space and connect more deeply with consumers who value authenticity and artistry.
